TuMbliNG OlyMPicS!

On Wednesday I was able to go down to Utah to see the kids tumbling show.  Emmy and Carter were the littlest ones in the class, Carter was the only boy...but they were really awesome!  Since they are in the youngest class, they haven't let them do a lot of flips or things like that, but they have their cartwheels and handstands down pretty good, and their diving rolls and stuff like that!  After the show, they were awarded their medals,  Ashton got his medal on Tuesday, too although I didn't get to see his show, or get a picture of him with his medal.  These are just a couple of shots with them and their medals
(I'm pretty sure they were GOLD!)

Tumbling Show.

This was just a couple of their moves on the trampoline.
Finally, some jumps and flips!

I wasn't able to stay for their gymnastics show on Thursday afternoon.  Had planned to, but then I got feeling bad and had to skip out and go home...I felt really bad, and I know the kids were sad, but hope they understood, Sorry once again...but I enjoyed getting to see you all.  I didn't get any pictures of Lilly, but she is crawling all over the place and pushing herself into sitting position, she can feed herself and wave "Hi".  She is sure cute and always smiling!  Ashton was trying very hard to be a "nice boy" while Grandma was there, he did pretty good.  We had a couple of whine sessions, but I think we made friends and he liked me enough to come sit on the patio swing with me for quite a while!  He is darling with the cutest smile, if he could just keep the frowny face from creeping in!  Emmy and Carter are excited to start school on Monday and had to show me all their new school clothes and model them.  It was great to get to see them again and get hugs and kisses and see all their awesome skills!  Maybe we have some future Olympic stars in our family!

A New Look!

After our weekend of hard work, the house changed quite a bit!  We were able to finish up the rock and siding on the big bay of the garage so that they could pour cement.  All the cement was finished this morning and Katie and Clint are starting to put up the rock on the small panel with the window over on the left of the house.  The rock will go all the way up to the gable...It'll look great!

Changes...

I got home from Clarkston yesterday afternoon to find Clinton, Katie and Brent hard at work on the house.  There has been a lot of progress since last week when I saw it!  The inside is all taped and textured and ready for trim, doors and paint...The outside is taking shape, both sides are about all done with the siding and eaves, the back is about half done, and Clint has started on the rock in the front.  Everything is formed up for the cement work, and would have been poured on Friday, but the wind was a factor and they had to delay until Monday, but it's all lookin' good.  Thought I would post a few pictures for you all.

Katie's the picker and planner of the rock...Brent muds it up, and Clinton...well he's the picky placer!

Construction site!  A work in progress...

The west sides are all done...

The back...a little harder with all those bays!

One section of finished rock near the front door.

Living room with the fireplace and the TV box.

Looking from the entry into the dining room and the half wall is where their raised bar will be.

The master bedroom...looking up for the tray ceiling...the lacey stuff you see on the wall here and in the living room is actually the venetian plaster texturing.

Kitchen and looking back to the pantry and the rear entry from the garage.

The entry way and stairs going down.  (I know Clint...I can't take a straight picture!)

The rear door...just so you can see their doors and hardware.

SiLLy GirL!

Ali asked me when I was going home the other day, and I told her that I would leave whenever they got tired of me and she said, "Then I want you to stay FOREVER!"  Talk about melt your heart!

This is one of my favorite pictures of the week...
"Hurry Grandma!  I'm freezing!"  As she is standing in the
glacier fed stream...giggling to high heavens!      Priceless...

VacATioN!

I've been on a little vacation at Trisha's and Danny's house since last Tuesday.  I felt like I wanted to get away and do something before summer was completely over!  Since Jake came home we helped my mom and dad pack up their house and leave on a mission, we helped Jaron and Heather move from Boise into their house, then I was busy getting a missionary ready and everyone visiting for his farewell, then taking him to the MTC!  Next we went to Jana's wedding, and then it was time to pack Jake and Tess up and send them on their way, only to leave the next morning for girl's camp!   With Clinton and Katie moving back to Blackfoot and starting the construction of their house, Brent has been gone a lot and I have been busy.  I have had a full summer, a lot of fun times, and a lot of emotional times also, but none of them were a true VACATION!  So I appreciate that Trisha and Danny have allowed me to come and move in on them for what I call my 'vacation!'
It has been fun to see the kids again...my grandkids are the best aren't they?!  Getting hugs and kisses from Ali and Grant are wonderful, and Danny had this weekend off from work, so he was pretty accommodating to plan a couple of fun outings and take 'grandma' along!  Thanks Danny and Trisha!!!
On Saturday Danny took us to Joseph, Oregon, which is a cute little town, somewhat like Seaside to me, lots of things to look at, some history to learn, good food to eat and then the scenery!  We went out to Wallowa Lake, and it was really beautiful.  We stopped at the lake and stuck our feet in and saw some deer up close and personal, then we went on a 2 mile hike up to some waterfalls which was cool!  Ali thought she was a real hiker, singing and marching all the way!

Then yesterday, we drove up to Coeur d'Alene and went to a little amusement park called 'Silverwood'.  It is about half the size of Lagoon, and less grown-up rides, but the rides they DO have are twice as good as Lagoon, so I guess it evens out!  Danny thought that it would be hilarious to take me on a ride called AFTERSHOCK! which is a ride that we heard they got from Six Flags.  Just to describe it a little bit, they strap you in and your feet are dangling, then they pull you up a vertical tower until you are really high, and you are hanging face down suspended...then they drop you and you go straight down then go up around twisting and turning upside down and around until you go straight up another parallel vertical tower and stop...this time hanging face up suspended...then they drop you again and you do the whole thing backwards again...at a REALLY high rate of speed!  You end at the top of the first tower hanging face down once again before the last drop to SAFETY and FREEDOM!  It was the scariest thing I have ever done...and as the kid next to me said when it was over, "THAT was NOT entertaining!"  Ha!  I'm over it now...and too bad Daniel...I SURVIVED!!  Ha! Ha!  After that scary ride, Danny took me on the funnest roller coaster I've ever been on, a really large wooden roller coaster with some awesome vertical drops and tunnels and it made up for the ride before!  It was a great day, and I had a lot of fun watching Ali ride on her rides and watching Grant for a few hours so Trisha and Danny could have some fun by themselves, too!

My cute little kids having fun at Silverwood...I had a great time and my thanks to all of them for putting up with me!!

What's New?

So I made it back from Girl's Camp...what a hoot!  I had a lot of fun with the girls playing in the water and boating.  Except for all the dirt and the camping thing, the rest was Great!  The Young Women were awesome, the food was pretty good (dutch oven chicken and potatoes, cobbler and homemade ice cream...not bad!) and we had a great time swimming and boating and laying in the sun!  Campfires at night were the best, lots of laughs and visiting, and roasting biscuits (I'm a pro now!) What can I say...like a weekend at Bernie's!

I came home to find Brent had made it safely home from Florida, even after Jake took him to the wrong airport by accident...he still made it to the right one and made his flight!   And Tanessa and Addi had arrived safely in Florida, passing Grandpa somewhere in the air.  Tanessa said that with the exception of a dirty diaper incident toward the end of the flight, Addi did very well on her first flight!  So they are there with Jake and starting to get settled in.

Tanessa told me that it might be a few days until they have internet, so I thought I would post a few pictures that Brent took of their new home while he was there.  All of these were from the outside...the first one is the front of their new apartment.

This is the back, which is just a short way away from the little playard.

I guess starving College students have to rough it a little!  Ha!
